Express Recruitment are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial and pricing support for their current essential project supporting a government defence organisation. This temporary role will play a key part in delivering costed proposals and will allow the successful candidate to work on a high-profile project. The ideal candidate will focus on developing accurate, timely cost submissions through a mix of first principles estimating, formal tender processes, and schedules of rates, ensuring commercial robustness and compliance with client requirements. Responsibilities- Develop detailed pricing using established schedules of rates
- Undertake first principles estimating where necessary
- Format and present accurate cost breakdowns
- Engage with the supply chain to obtain quotations and ensure competitiveness
- Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of project Commercial Risk Registers
- Participate in project adjudications, presenting pricing approaches, risks, and assumptions
- Work closely with project managers, estimators, planners, and commercial leads
- Provide clear and accurate cost information to senior management and clients
- Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, Security Clearance (SC) required
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field
- Chartered status (MRICS) desirable but not essential
- Strong knowledge of pricing methodologies and formal tender processes in a public sector environment
- Experience in supply chain engagement
- Sound commercial awareness with strong analytical and numerical skills
- Proficient in Excel, Proactis, and Maximo CAFM (or similar)
