Express Recruitment is currently working alongside a leading precision manufacturer in Nottingham who provide high-end engineered products to household firms on a global scale. Due to continued growth and consistent order book, our client is seeking a Manual Machinist for their machine shop department. The successful candidate will possess hands-on proficiencies across a wide range of manual milling, turning and grinding machines. In return, the successful candidate will receive a starting salary of up to £33,500, with the opportunity to earn up to a further £4,056 in pay rises after completion of the probationary period. Other benefits include paid overtime, annual bonus, access to healthcare cash plans (dental and opticians), regular social events plus career development opportunities to become a Machine Shop Team Leader, whilst training up on CNC machines!
Skills & Experience
- Apprenticeship in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or time-served experience
- Demonstrable experience operating manual machinery, including lathes, manual millers/turning machines and surface grinders
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings without supervision
- Willingness to learn, including taking interest in being trained up on CNC lathes
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations
Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathe & block milling Bridgeport machines
- Operate manual turning machines and surface grinders
- Work closely with the Mechanical Fitters to ensure machine parts are in adherence with Engineering drawings/schematics specifications
- Operate calibration equipment to perform inspections on machined parts, reporting quality defects and tolerance issues to the Workshop Manager
- Train up on Fanuc based CNC lathes (when the opportunity arises)
- Work with a wide range of materials, including sheet metal, aluminium, plastic and steel
- Adhere to strict on-site Health and Safety regulations

Job Type and Hours: Monday-Thursday (7:30am to 4:30pm) Friday (7:30am-12:30pm)
