Express Recruitment are delighted to be supporting an industry-leading manufacturer as they search for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their friendly engineering team in North Nottinghamshire. This role is part of a succession plan to take over the Engineering Section Manager when they retire in the near future. This role would suit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer who is looking to take the next step on the career ladder.
Perm month, you will be contracted to 3 weeks of 8am-4pm or 7am-3pm shifts and on the final week of the month, you will be contracted to either a week of 6am-2pm or 2pm-10am shifts, Monday to Friday. In addition, you will also be on call that week and required to attend the factory briefly at the weekend to ensure production is ready for the following week (you will receive 3 hours’ worth of overtime pay each day for this, based on one hour’s work on both Saturday and Sunday).
They’re offering a generous salary of c£41,184 per annum (including shift pattern and call out bonus), a steady shift pattern and a fantastic benefits package which includes 37 days holiday allowance (including bank holidays), BUPA private healthcare, sick pay scheme (after 1 year), up to 14.5% employer pension contribution, funding support for engineering certifications such as HNC in Electrical Engineering and significant opportunity for career progression.
Skills & Experience
- Proven ‘hands-on’ experience with water jet pumps, filtration systems, compressors, boilers and variable speed drives highly advantageous
- Experience troubleshooting PLCs effectively
- City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering essential
- HNC/HND and 18th Edition preferred but potential opportunity for funding
- Confident self-starter with ability to work independently and bring a proactive approach to the role
Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs and variable speed drives
- Monitor and control all utility systems including compressors, boilers and fire sprinkler systems
- Perform routine maintenance and carry out diagnostics to identify faults
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and implement effective repairs
- Produce basic maintenance and operational reports as required
- Support continuous improvement by ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely
- Work independently from technical drawings and electrical schematics

Salary: c£41,184 per annum D.O.E. plus overtime
Job Type and Hours: Permanent - Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm or 7am-3pm with 1 week in 4 on the on-call rota and early morning/afternoon shift (6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm)
