PLC Controls Engineer

Due to an ever-growing UK client base and a recent global acquisition, our client is seeking the addition of a PLC Controls Engineer to join their talented team. The ideal candidate be a fully trained Industrial Electrical Maintenance Engineer with significant exposure to PLC programming (ideally Siemens, Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley).\\n\\nThis is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing and dynamic company who provide opportunities for self-development and rapid financial gain, whilst maintaining a flexible and enlightening working environment.\\n\\nThe working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am-4:00pm, although some flexibility is on offer, depending on individual circumstances.

Due to nature of the role, regular UK travel to various client sites is required as well as some weekend work/overnight stays on occasions to complete on-site commissioning projects.\\n\\nFurthermore, the successful candidate will be required to travel to their parent site near Sandbach in Cheshire, twice a week to undertake training from the Senior PLC Programmer who is nearing retirement age. As a result, there is an opportunity to succeed this person as the Senior PLC Programming Engineer for the business. All travel costs to Sandbach per week will be reimbursed.\\n\\nIn return, you receive a generous salary package between £40,000 – £52,000 plus annual performance related bonus, 6% pension, sick pay, flexible working hours, paid overtime, paid travel costs, paid overnight accommodation, salary sacrifice scheme plus the opportunity to work out of hours remote shifts during the week, paying £150 per shift.\\n\\nRoles & Responsibilities\\n\\n * Program PLCs from scratch using bespoke in-house software, including Allen Bradley, Siemens and Mitsubishi\\n\\n * Operate SCADA software to monitor and maintain plant automation for customers\\n\\n * Attend parent site in Crewe twice a week to shadow and learn PLC techniques and processes from the Senior PLC Programmer\\n\\n * Design, configure and, commission control systems on UK and overseas customer sites\\n\\n * Compile accurate fault reports and ensure they are documented correctly\\n\\n * Create plant layout designs and interpret schematic diagrams for installation and commissioning works\\n\\n * Oversee the design of control panels, structural machine designs and material handling equipment\\n\\n * Play a crucial part in modernising the company’s approach to PLC programming while also providing support for legacy PLC programmes where needed\\n\\n * Consult directly with customers to fully understand their bespoke specifications\\n\\n * Assist with electrical design projects from initial concept to completion\\n\\n * Work to complete various projects within designated deadlines times\\n\\nSkills & Experience\\n\\n * Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar field\\n\\n * Demonstrable fault-finding experience with the likes of Allen Bradley, Omron, Mitsubishi, and Siemens S7 PLCs\\n\\n * Experienced user of SCADA software\\n\\n * Experience working with control panels, material handling equipment and automated plant machinery\\n\\n * Previous coding experience of C/C++ a big plus\\n\\n * Previous experience working with SQL databases desirable but not essential\\n\\n * Excellent communicative skills, both written and verbally\\n\\n * Fully flexible with regular field work and occasional overseas travel/weekend work when needed\\n\\n * Full UK Driving License essential\\n\\nAbout Express Recruitment\\n\\nExpress Recruitment has been offering exceptional recruitment solutions across the East Midlands since 1987, “exceeding expectations every time” of over 267,000 candidates.\\n\\nWe supply a diverse range of sectors including Engineering, Technology, Professional Services, Languages, Sales & Marketing, Call Centres, Commercial, Manufacturing, Local Authority, NHS, Education and Voluntary organisations.
