Express Recruitment is delighted to be working exclusively with a long-standing machinery supplier based in the East Midlands. Due to continued supplier demand for their machines, our client is seeking the addition of an experienced Mechanical Machine Tool Fitter with proven experience in the assembly and fitting of bespoke machinery and associated machine tools. This is a static role, based in their workshop in Nottingham. You will receive a salary between £33,000 to £36,000 depending on experience. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Overtime is available on occasions during peak times. Skills & Experience

  • Full Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or similar qualification
  • Proven experience in assembling and fitting special purpose machinery, including CNC machines
  • Competent electrical fitting experience desirable but not essential
  • Confident working from build sheets and technical drawings without supervision
  • Manual machining experience (lathes, milling machines, grinders etc.) highly advantageous
  • Experience in operating a 6-tonne overhead crane useful but full training provided

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work independently from build sheets to assemble mechanical and automated machinery and machine tools
  • Strip down broken machine parts and fit refurbished parts
  • Operate workshop machinery to modify mechanical components, including Bridgeport’s, manual milling machines and vertical lathes
  • Assist with testing of machinery to ensure they are fully functioning before being installed
  • Fit a range of parts, including bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, control panels and gearboxes
  • Inspect tolerances of parts before they are fitted to ensure they meet customer specification requirements
  • Report non-conforming parts to Workshop Manager
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and technical specification sheets
  • Operate overhead crane to safely transport fully assembled machines onto trailers ready for distribution
