Express Recruitment is a respected and forward-thinking provider of nationwide electrical and energy solutions looking to recruit a Commercial Electrician to cover their North region of commercial clients. The successful candidate will live within a 1.5-hour drive of Chesterfield, with full training provided and excellent long-term progression opportunities. With a reputation for delivering high-quality projects, this organisation plays a key role in providing commercial electrical installations, EV charging, and solar solutions across multiple sectors.
The role offers a salary of £50,000 per annum depending on experience, with overtime at 1.5x after 6pm and on Saturdays, and 2x on Sundays. You’ll typically be required to spend 1–3 nights away per week, with all travel, food, and accommodation covered. A fully equipped company van and fuel card are provided. The package includes a £25 food & drink allowance per overnight stay, a £30 uplift allowance for overnight trips, Christmas shutdown, pension scheme, funded qualifications, and 21 days holiday plus bank holidays.
Skills & Experience
- 3+ years’ experience as a fully qualified Electrician
- Strong commercial electrical background
- Solar and EV experience preferred (City & Guilds 2919)
- Willingness to travel and work occasional nights away from home
- Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
- Certifications Required: AM2, ECS Black or Gold Card, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, Inspection & Testing
Roles & Responsibilities
- Carry out commercial electrical installations, inspections, testing, and maintenance to industry standards
- Work on projects including EV charging points, solar systems, and general electrical infrastructure
- Follow technical drawings, regulations, and site-specific RAMS to ensure safe and compliant work
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues efficiently and accurately
- Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to deliver projects on time and to specification
- Attend head office weekly for meetings, van restocking, and briefings
- Complete accurate job reports and safety documentation
- Travel to client sites between Tewkesbury and York, with occasional overnight stays
