Express Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading UK civil engineering and ground engineering firm. Due to continued growth across their residential new build division, our client is seeking an additional Quantity Surveyor to join their team.
You will be contracted to 41.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. In return, you will receive a combined total salary of up to c£65,000. In addition, you will also receive a company car, 6% employer pension contribution, 33 days holiday (including statutory days), sick pay scheme, profit share scheme, access to private health care, annual bonus scheme (based on company performance), cycle to work scheme, and various savings through salary sacrifice scheme.
Please note this is an office-based role, with occasional site-based travel required.
Skills & Experience- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar subject
- Proven experience in the residential construction/house building sectors
- Experienced in producing commercial risk financial reports and presenting key findings
- IT literate, including Microsoft Office packages and CRM systems such as Salesforce
- First class attention to detail
- Experienced in contractual dispute management and resolutions
- Experience in producing pre-contract tender packages, Bill of Quantities (BoQ) and cost estimates
- Demonstrable numerical analytic skills, with the ability to inspect large financial data sets and identify anomalies
- Full, UK driving license essential
- Implement and manage an effective area commercial strategy for the Residential Division to enhance capability of meeting targets and allotted budgets
- Put in place preventative measures to ensure the company is not exposed to undue commercial risk and that money is collected at the due dates
- Analyse any terms and conditions submitted by the estimating staff
- Take prompt action on any commercial issues for the benefit of the business and company as a whole. Work collaboratively as a team to ensure ongoing business growth and coherent approach to customer relationships
- Attend precontract and prestart meetings to agree the most favourable terms of contract are secured
- Inspect all incoming contracts and warranties and ensure that all orders and letters of intent are properly acknowledged and accepted on the same terms as the offer was originally made
- Attend internal project meetings with the project team, designers, and operations teams, to ensure the sufficient progress is being made and in line with agreed running costs
- Maintain commercial reporting and measurement systems to plan and report on a weekly basis as well as producing a factual monthly commercial report, including assisting with CVR’s and SBU accounts
- Monitor cash flow for department and maintain target average debt days in conjunction with the Operations Managers
- Monitor application and invoice processes prepared by the division and ensure compliance checks are conducted on a monthly basis
- Manage the process of the reviewing and sign off sub-contractor accounts by the operations team
- Ensure compliance with all QA, health & safety and other statutory obligations
