Express Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a global provider of electrical control systems on behalf of some of the firms in the Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy industry sectors. Due to company wide growth and sustained healthy project pipeline, our client is seeking the addition of a PLC Controls Software Engineer to join their ever-growing team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, programming, installation, and commissioning of PLC/HMI & SCADA control software applications across the UK and overseas. Due to the globally demanding nature of the role, the successful candidate must be flexible with nationwide and overseas travel when required. In return, our client is offering a competitive starting salary of up to £60,000. Other benefits include annual performance related bonus scheme, death in service benefit, paid mileage, travel allowances, matched pension contributions (up to 6%) and the ability to buy/sell up to 5 days holiday.
- Creation and testing of PLC and HMI/SCADA software applications primarily using Siemens, TIA Portal, and Allen Bradley
- Carry out network design and implementation of industry standard protocols including MODBUS and OPC
- Design and implement condition monitoring systems such as Bentley Nevada and Emerson
- Perform full scale commissioning on customer sites in both the UK and occasionally abroad
- Provide technical support to the sales, proposal, project, and design teams, including simulations, estimating, software and hardware selection.
- Provide ongoing training and mentorship to Junior Engineers and assist with on-the-job training when necessary
Degree or HND in Control Systems Engineering, Automation & Controls, or Instrumentation Engineering highly desirable. Proven experience in PLC programming (ideally Siemens Step 7/TIA Portal and/or Allen Bradley). Previous experience in the Oil & Gas or Renewable Energy sector advantageous. Well versed with Network protocols including MODBUS and CANBUS. Flexible with working away and overseas travel, including offshore work when required. Full UK driving license essential. Valid UK passport essential. Fluent in an additional language useful but not essential.
