Hours: 37 hours per week with an early finish on Friday

Express Recruitment is recruiting for a highly regarded Education Provider who are looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to join their team based in Chesterfield. Our client offers a safe place for learners to study and develop in a positive, forward‑thinking environment designed to boost wellbeing. The successful candidate will hold experience in a similar role and will be happy to work full time at their modern Chesterfield site. The role starts on a temporary basis with high potential of becoming permanent for the right candidate.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Deliver both GCSE and Functional Skills Maths to students aged 12 to 20
  • Ensure an excellent learning experience for all individuals
  • Plan and attend tutoring sessions and activities with children and teenagers
  • Utilise a range of appropriate assessment materials
  • Attend programme meetings to discuss areas for improvement and upcoming changes
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of changes within legislation
  • Ensure accurate student records are maintained using bespoke packages while following company policies

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable ability of delivering GCSE or Functional Skills Maths lessons
  • Enhanced DBS Check is essential or a willingness to process one following an interview
  • Experience of planning tutoring sessions and ensuring appropriate assessments are made
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and data protection
  • Ability to work with students from all backgrounds
  • Experience within a Further Education setting is ideally preferred

Vacancy Summary

Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm; Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
