Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer/Scientist for our Electrical Engineering Practice. In this role, you will work as part of a team to combine scientific and engineering principles, data driven techniques, and the most current experimental methods with robust subject-specific scientific expertise, to implement high-value solutions to complex technical problems. Location: London–Cambridge area (future Cambridge lab/office)This role is not remote and requires in-person workingThe successful candidate will initially be based within the London–Cambridge area, with the expectation of transitioning to a Cambridge-based office/lab once this has been established

You will be responsible for

Performing electrical/electronic/power/optical engineering analyses consulting related to ongoing Exponent workPerforming reliability and failure analysis related to electrical/electronic/power/optical systems and components, battery systems, and conducting design reviews of consumer electronicsInvestigating and evaluating electrocution/electric shock hazards regarding electrical devices, equipment and installationsDeveloping test protocols and applying existing standards for testing of electronic devices and systemsDeveloping new software tools and analyzing/improving existing softwarePreparing technical proposals, designing, supervising, and managing laboratory testingCritically assessing test results, methods of analysis and testing protocols, generating new testing protocols based on new product designs, maintaining a systematic approach to data collection and storage, and writing reports

You will have the following skills and qualifications

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Applied PhysicsTechnical background in any of the following disciplines: Power Systems, Electronics, Optics, Controls, Circuit Design, or Embedded SystemsElectromagnetics, Automotive Systems (including batteries), Medical Devices, Power Generation, Robotics, or a related fieldMEMS and/or Semiconductor Fabrication, Solid State Devices, or Fabrication Process DevelopmentNanoscience, Condensed Matter, or related background in Experimental PhysicsInstrumentation & control systems design and engineering, or a related fieldIn-depth knowledge of one or more programming languages desirableExcellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teamsAbility to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industryExcellent hands-on engineering experience with strong skills in laboratory methods including construction of experimental apparatus, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysisAbility to support multiple group projects and market the Electrical Engineering Practice and its consulting servicesExperience in failure analysis, manufacturing, reliability, safety, semiconductors, or material science is a plusApplicants are encouraged to submit a CV (Curriculum Vitae) with publications (feel free to include publications that are in review or pending) [not restricted to 1 page].
