Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs Specialist at the Managing Scientist level to operate within our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice in one of our European offices (located in Ireland, the UK, Germany or Switzerland). Remote working is also an option.
You will be responsible for:
- Producing food safety assessments, food allergenicity assessments and defining acceptance standards to advise consumer risk protection mitigation measures including risk communication.
- Producing high quality, successful regulatory submissions relating to food, feed, food contact materials and food additives, including allergenicity assessments.
- Provision of high level, strategic risk management, regulatory and scientific advice to clients on international food regulations and food risk prevention best practices.
- Provision of relevant expert advice on potential for risk to consumers, food safety capability status of manufacturing sites to support incidents and recalls reactively and post-event, due diligence assessments pre-acquisition or pre-approval as co-manufacturers and suppliers, and remedial actions post-event or post-acquisition.
- Management of complex, multifaceted projects.
- Winning work and building and developing successful client relationships.
You will have the following skills and qualifications:
- A minimum of a BSc in chemistry, biochemistry, food science, microbiology, nutrition or a closely related field, with a strong preference for higher degree.
- Extensive experience (ideally 10+ years) of working in food or feed safety management and/or regulatory environments.
- A proven track record working within the scientific and regulatory framework applicable to food and feed safety in the UK and European Union.
