Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Cosmetics and Consumer Product Managing Scientist for our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice in our Nottingham (UK), Edinburgh (UK), Harrogate (UK), London (UK), Dublin (Ireland), Basel (Switzerland) or Mannheim (Germany) offices; homeworking may also be considered.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing scientific advice to clients and colleagues on cosmetic and consumer product regulatory requirements and international standards.
  • Ensuring our client’s product information is accurate and completed to the highest industry standards.
  • Producing and maintaining cosmetic product data to produce Product Information Files for products sold in the EU and UK, and registration dossiers for other markets to meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Writing and reviewing Cosmetic Product Safety Reports for products sold in the UK, USA, and EU.
  • Notification and registration of cosmetic products in the UK, EU, USA, Australia, and China - adding product information to the EU CPNP, UK SCPN notification, and US FDA Cosmetic Direct portals.
  • Reviewing artwork for compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Project management, ensuring that projects are delivered to high standards, on time and within agreed budget.
  • Identifying new clients for Exponent’s Cosmetics and Consumer Product Safety and Regulatory services and helping to grow the existing client base.

You will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • B.Sc or Masters degree or equivalent in toxicology, chemistry, biology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Understanding of cosmetic regulations and chemicals regulations applicable to consumer products in the UK, EU, USA, and other international regions.
  • Proven experience of working with the UK, EU, and USA cosmetics and consumer product regulations and a thorough understanding of EU regulatory processes affecting cosmetics and consumer products.
  • Experience of producing and or reviewing Product Information Files (PIFs), Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSR) and notifying products on the EU Cosmetic Product Notification Portal (CPNP).
  • A strong team worker with the ability to communicate with confidence.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze, check, and investigate data at pace.
  • Ability to work within a timely and organized manner.
  • Staff management and business development experience would be a distinct advantage.
