Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Scientist for our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice in one of our offices (located in Ireland, the UK, Germany or Switzerland). Remote working is also an option. In this newly created role, you will work as part of a diverse team of experienced food safety, quality, regulatory and nutrition experts, to provide technical support on food contact materials, novel foods, food/feed additives, labelling and other food/feed regulatory and safety related issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing high‑quality technical, scientific and regulatory advice to colleagues and clients
  • Contributing to successful completion of complex, multi‑discipline projects, including regulatory submissions to authorities globally
  • Building and developing successful client relationships

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a BSc in chemistry, biochemistry, food science, microbiology, nutrition or a closely related field, with a strong preference for a higher degree
  • Experience working with European Union (and UK) regulatory frameworks relating to food/feed, including but not limited to food contact materials, novel foods, food/feed additives or contaminants in food/feed legislation
  • Experience using analytical chemistry within a food/feed‑related context and interpreting the data produced

Desirable Skills:

  • Confidence in collating, reviewing and interpreting scientific data and information
  • Experience of data interpretation and problem solving
  • Experience of working in a team environment, especially multi‑disciplinary project teams
  • Evidence of, and aptitude for, networking (e.g. with external experts, business managers, representation on industry or inter‑agency task forces, committee membership in a professional society, contacts across industry)
  • Experience of working in a government agency, a food industry role or a food testing laboratory is beneficial but not essential
