About the role

As our Production Controller, you will be responsible for the effective planning, scheduling, and progression of customer orders from receipt of sales order through production and final shipment. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will coordinate activities to ensure excellent On‑Time Delivery (OTD) and On‑Time In‑Full (OTIF) performance. You will maintain the accuracy and integrity of production planning data within our Epicor Kinetic ERP system, ensuring that schedules, capacity planning, and order status information remain up to date and reliable. The role also includes direct line management responsibility for the Shipping and Packing team, ensuring orders are dispatched accurately, efficiently, and in line with customer requirements.

What you'll do

  • Prepare, maintain and communicate accurate production schedules, capacity plans, material availability and delivery status information, actively participating in Production, Sales, Engineering and Operations meetings to identify risks, coordinate actions and support informed business decisions.
  • Act as the central coordination point between Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Dispatch and Sales.
  • Own and maintain the master production schedule within Epicor Kinetic.
  • Schedule work according to labour capacity, production capability, material availability and customer requirements to deliver product to agreed delivery dates.
  • Challenge and validate delivery commitments, ensuring production schedules are achievable and aligned to capacity, material availability and business priorities.
  • Develop and coordinate recovery plans where production schedules are at risk, ensuring priorities are aligned to customer and business requirements.
  • Provide recommendations to management regarding delivery commitments, resource requirements and production priorities based on analysis of capacity, material availability and business demand.
  • Maintain rolling capacity plans and labour capacity versus demand models, identifying future bottlenecks and resource constraints.
  • Own the integrity and accuracy of production planning, scheduling and delivery data within Epicor Kinetic.
  • Promote and maintain compliance with Epicor processes and procedures, ensuring production transactions, schedules and reporting remain accurate and up to date.
  • Manage MRP messages and planning recommendations, ensuring actions are reviewed, communicated and completed.
  • Expedite all issues affecting production delivery including shortages, missing data, engineering queries and capacity constraints.
  • Advise on long lead‑time purchased parts with the support of the Procurement department and ensure they are considered when agreeing delivery dates with Sales and Engineering.
  • Provide Purchasing with advance warning of priority parts and material requirements.
  • Work closely with Stores and Purchasing to ensure material availability, inventory accuracy, kit readiness and production continuity.
  • Maintain visibility of job progress and escalate concerns appropriately to ensure delivery commitments are achieved.
  • Support Sales and Customer Service by providing accurate production status, delivery forecasts and recovery plans to support customer communications.
  • Ensure Production teams have access to the correct drawings, BOMs, routings, work instructions and planning information required to execute work efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain Epicor BAQs, dashboards and KPI reporting to support operational decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor OTD and OTIF performance and coordinate recovery actions where delivery risk exists.
  • Support the Production Manager, Purchasing Manager and Operations Director through the development and maintenance of reports and KPI metrics relating to labour, materials, delivery performance, quality and operational efficiency.
  • Manage, coach and develop direct reports, ensuring objectives are clear, performance expectations are achieved and appropriate training and development plans are maintained.
  • Lead the Packing and Shipping functions, ensuring customer orders are prepared, packed, documented and dispatched in accordance with customer requirements and agreed delivery schedules.
  • Prioritise Packing and Shipping activities in line with production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve planning accuracy, production flow and operational efficiency.
