Our tutors act as coaches and mentors, not just instructors, supporting each learner's progress with care and purpose. As a tutor, you'll play a key role in every child's learning journey by delivering lessons that last, building meaningful relationships, and driving academic progress. We use our smart learning tool, Compass, to deliver tailored sessions that facilitate learning through questioning, scaffolding and stretching. With a 1:6 teacher-to-student ratio, you will create a safe, inspiring environment where children can take risks and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons that last: Using Compass, facilitate learning through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching.
  • Build meaningful relationships: Get to know each child and create a safe, inspiring environment for them to develop.
  • Drive academic progress: Support members through the national curriculum, entrance exams, and GCSE preparation while celebrating milestones.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Confident leading sessions with small groups (1:6), inspiring children, using positive behaviour management strategies, and prioritising safety and wellbeing.
  • Comfortable supporting children aged 4‑16 across the national curriculum, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.
  • Committed to building meaningful, long‑term relationships, providing consistency and stability that helps children thrive.

Contract & Working Hours

This is a permanent, part‑time role. You will be contracted to work a minimum of 6 hours a week over at least 2 different weekdays. Available shift start times: 3:30‑4pm Tuesday, 3:30‑4pm Wednesday, 3:30‑4pm Thursday, 3:30‑4pm Friday, Morning/afternoon Saturday. Please note: This is not a summer‑only role; we are seeking dedicated tutors to support our members throughout the next academic year and beyond.

Pay & Progression

Base hourly rate: Under 18: £8.40, 18‑20: £10.90, 21+: £12.75. Additional 50p per hour will be added if working at a centre inside the M25. You will be paid for all training and inductions.

Requirements

  • Age 16 or over with the right to work in the UK.
  • Achieved a grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level or equivalent (predicted grades accepted if results are received within 3 months).
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK will be required.
  • Full employment history with all gaps clearly explained and evidenced where required.
  • Any omission, inconsistency, or misleading information may result in application rejection, offer withdrawal, or dismissal.
  • Offer conditional upon satisfactory references (taken directly from referees) and an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (and relevant Exceptions Orders).
