Responsibilities:

  • Deliver lessons that last – use Compass to deliver tailored sessions, facilitate learning through questioning, scaffolding and stretching.
  • Build meaningful relationships – with a 1:6 tutor‑to‑child ratio, get to know each child and create a safe, inspiring environment where they can take risks and develop a lifelong love of learning.
  • Drive academic progress – support members as they work through the national curriculum, entrance exams and GCSE preparation, celebrating milestones and successes along the way.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Confident leading sessions with small groups (up to 16), always putting children’s safety and wellbeing first.
  • Comfortable supporting children aged 4‑16 across the national curriculum, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.
  • Committed to building meaningful, long‑term relationships, providing consistency and stability that helps children thrive.
  • Achieved a grade 5 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level or equivalent. Predicted grades accepted if results within the next 3 months.
  • Age 16 or over and the right to work in the UK.

  • Contract – at least 6 hours a week over 2 different days, shift start times between 3:30 pm and 4 pm on weekdays.
  • Pay – base hourly rates: Under 18 £8.40; 18‑20 £10.90; 21+ £12.75. +£0.50 per hour if working inside M25. Training and induction paid.
  • Additional perks – 50 % off Explore Learning membership fees for staff and immediate relations; £50 bonus per referred tutor and £500 per referred supervisor/manager; payroll giving scheme, enhanced parental packages, mortgage broker service and pension matching scheme.
