Maths and English Tutor – Sidcup
Explore Learning is looking for a full‑time Maths and English Tutor to support learners aged 4–16 across the national curriculum, entrance exams and GCSE preparation.
Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored lessons using the smart learning tool Compass, facilitating learning through questioning, scaffolding and stretching.
- Build meaningful, trusting relationships with learners in a 1:6 tutor‑to‑learner ratio, creating a safe and inspiring environment.
- Drive academic progress, celebrating milestones and ensuring learners stay on track for curriculum success.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies and prioritise student safety and wellbeing.
- Act as a coach and mentor, supporting each learner’s progress with care and purpose.
Qualifications
- Age 16 or over with the right to work in the UK.
- Achieved a grade 6 or above in Maths and English at GCSE level, or predicted grades expected within 3 months.
- Comfortable teaching children aged 4–16, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.
- Committed to building long‑term relationships with learners.
- Contract & Hours
Permanent part‑time position: minimum of 6 hours per week, across at least two different weekdays. Possible shift times:
- Wednesday 3:30‑4:00pm
- Thursday 3:30‑4:00pm
- Friday morning/afternoon
- Saturday (anytime)
This role is not summer‑only and will support members throughout the academic year and beyond.
Location
On‑site at our Sidcup centre.
- Pay & Progression
- Under 18: £8.40per hour
- +£0.50 per hour for work inside the M25
Pay may increase annually based on hours taught.
