Maths and English Tutor – Sheffield
Explore Learning offers a part‑time, on‑site tutoring role that supports children aged 4–16 through the national curriculum, 11+ entrance exams and GCSE preparation using our smart learning platform, Compass.
Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored lessons using Compass, facilitating learning through questioning, scaffolding and stretching.
- Build meaningful relationships in small groups (1:6 ratio) to create a safe, inspiring learning environment.
- Support learners in progressing through the national curriculum and exam preparation, celebrating milestones.
- Use positive behaviour management and prioritise safety and wellbeing of pupils.
Requirements
- Age 16 or over, with right to work in the UK.
- Achieved Grade 6 or above in Maths & English GCSEs (predicted grades accepted if results due within 3 months).
- Comfortable teaching children 4–16 across the curriculum, including 11+ and GCSE content.
- Committed to building long‑term relationships and consistent support.
- Ability to lead small group sessions and manage behaviour positively.
- Contract & Working Hours
Permanent part‑time, minimum 6 hours a week split across at least two weekdays.
- Shift start times: Tuesday 3:30‑4:00pm, Wednesday 3:30‑4:00pm, Thursday 3:30‑4:00pm, Friday 3:30‑4:00pm, Morning/afternoon Saturday.
- Pay Rates & Progression
- Base hourly rate: Under 18 – £8.40; 18‑20 – £10.90; 21+ – £12.75.
- Additional £0.50 per hour for work within the M25 centre.
- Annual opportunity to increase pay based on hours tutored.
