Maths and English Tutor – Leeds Moortown

Responsibilities

As a tutor, you’ll play a key role in every child’s learning journey.

  • Deliver tailored lessons using Compass, facilitating learning through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching.
  • Build meaningful relationships with a 16 student‑to‑tutor ratio, creating a safe and inspiring environment.
  • Drive academic progress by supporting work through the national curriculum, entrance exams, and GCSE preparation.

Qualifications

  • Confident leading small group sessions (up to 16 students), inspiring engagement and using positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Comfortable supporting children aged 4‑16 across the national curriculum, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.
  • Committed to building long‑term relationships and providing consistency and stability.
  • Aged 16 or over with the right to work in the UK.
  • Achieved grade 6 or above (or equivalent) in GCSE Maths & English Language, or predicted grades expected within 3 months.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK required; no sponsorship offered.
  • Full employment history with gaps explained; references and Enhanced DBS required.

Location

On‑site role based at the Leeds Moortown centre.

Contract

Permanent, part‑time position, minimum 6 hours a week across at least two weekdays.

  • 330‑4pm Tuesday
  • 330‑4pm Wednesday
  • 330‑4pm Thursday
  • 330‑4pm Friday
  • Morning/afternoon Saturday

Pay Rates & Progression

  • Under 18 £840
  • 18‑20 £10.90
  • 21+ £12.75
  • Additional 50p per hour if working at a centre inside the M25. Training and inductions are paid.
