We're looking for an experienced tutor to join our team and support the centre with Team Leader responsibilities when the supervisor and manager are not present. If you’re looking for the chance to gain valuable leadership experience, supported by a team that’s invested in your growth, this is the role for you.
The Role
- Our tutors act as coaches and mentors, not just instructors, supporting each learner’s progress with care and purpose.
- Delivering lessons that last: Using our smart learning tool, Compass, you’ll deliver tailored sessions where you facilitate learning through questioning, scaffolding and stretching.
- Building meaningful relationships: With a 1:6 ratio you’ll get to know each child and create a safe, inspiring environment where they can take risks and develop a lifelong love of learning.
- Driving academic progress: Support members as they work through the national curriculum, entrance exams, and GCSE preparation, celebrating milestones and successes along the way.
You will thrive as an Explore Learning tutor if you:
- Are confident leading sessions with small groups (1:6), inspiring children to engage in their learning, using positive behaviour management strategies, and consistently prioritising their safety and wellbeing.
- Feel comfortable supporting children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.
- Are committed to building meaningful, long‑term relationships, providing the consistency and stability that helps children thrive.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Develop your customer service skills: you will be the main contact for parents and guardians, confidently answering any queries, and using your problem‑solving skills to deliver great service and ensure smooth centre operations.
- Lead and inspire: you will be confident to lead and inspire your peers, supporting them in carrying out their duties and answering any questions.
- Ensure our members are safe: you will be vigilant to any safeguarding concerns and keep the children in your care safe. You will be trusted to open and close the centre.
Why Join Explore Learning?
- Make a real impact: Leave every session knowing you’ve helped children grow in confidence, develop key skills, and build a love of learning that lasts.
- Focus on what matters: With lessons and materials already prepared in Compass, you can focus on tutoring and nurturing your members, rather than planning resources.
- Grow and develop: Accelerate your skills through hands‑on tutoring and ongoing development as you build confidence as an educator.
- Work in a supportive team: Thrive in a collaborative, close‑knit team where passionate tutors work together to deliver exceptional learning.
Logistics
- Location: This is an on‑site role and you will be based at our Cardiff Thornhill centre.
- Contract: This is a permanent, part‑time role. You will be contracted to work a minimum of 6 hours a week over at least 2 different days.
- Our available shift start times are: 3:30‑4pm Tuesday, 3:30‑4pm Wednesday, 3:30‑4pm Thursday, 3:30‑4pm Friday, Morning/Afternoon Saturday.
- Please note: This is not a summer‑only role; we are seeking dedicated tutors to support our members throughout the next academic year and beyond.
