The Role

  • Our tutors act as coaches and mentors, supporting each learner’s progress with care and purpose.
  • Deliver lessons that last using our smart learning tool, Compass, tailoring sessions and facilitating learning through questioning, scaffolding and stretching.
  • Build meaningful relationships with a 1:6 ratio, creating a safe, inspiring environment to take risks and develop a lifelong love of learning.
  • Drive academic progress by supporting members as they work through the national curriculum, entrance exams and GCSE preparation, celebrating milestones and successes.
  • Be a customer service contact for parents and guardians, answering queries and ensuring smooth centre operations.
  • Lead and inspire peers, supporting them in carrying out duties and providing guidance.
  • Ensure the safety of members, remain vigilant to safeguarding concerns and open/close the centre as required.
  • Possibly lead and manage a vibrantly functioning tuition centre on occasion.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Age 18 or over with right to work in the UK.
  • Achieved grade 6 or above in Maths and English Language at GCSE level or equivalent; predicted grades accepted if results within 3 months.
  • Confidence leading small group sessions (1:6) and using positive behaviour management.
  • Comfortable supporting children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.
  • Committed to building long‑term relationships, consistency and stability for children’s success.

Logistics

  • Location: On‑site role at Cardiff centre.
  • Contract: Permanent, part‑time – minimum 6 hours per week on at least two weekdays.
  • Available shift start times: 3:30‑4pm Tuesday, 3:30‑4pm Wednesday, 3:30‑4pm Thursday, 3:30‑4pm Friday, Morning/afternoon Saturday.
  • Pay: Base hourly rate depending on age group – £10.90 for 18‑20, £12.75 for 21+, with a £0.50 additional per hour when working within the M25.
  • Training and induction paid.

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK is required. Sponsorship is not available.
