The Role
As a tutor, you’ll play a key role in every child’s learning journey by:
- Delivering lessons that last: Using our smart learning tool, Compass, you’ll deliver tailored sessions, facilitate learning through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching.
- Building meaningful relationships: With a 1:6 ratio, you’ll get to know each child and create a safe, inspiring environment where they can take risks and develop a lifelong love of learning.
- Driving academic progress: Support members as they work through the national curriculum, entrance exams, and GCSE preparation, celebrating milestones and successes along the way.
You’ll thrive as an Explore Learning tutor if you:
- Are confident leading small‑group sessions (1:6), inspiring children to engage in learning, using positive behaviour management strategies, and consistently prioritising safety and wellbeing.
- Feel comfortable supporting children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.
- Are committed to building meaningful, long‑term relationships, providing the consistency and stability that helps children thrive.
Requirements
- Age 16 or over and have the right to work in the UK.
- Have achieved a grade 6 or above in Maths and English Language at GCSE level or equivalent (predicted GCSE grades are accepted if results are due within 3 months).
Logistics
This is a future vacancy role based at our Winnersh centre. It is part‑time, requiring a minimum of 6 hours a week over at least two different weekdays. Available shift start times are:
- 3:30–4:00pm Tuesday
- 3:30–4:00pm Wednesday
- 3:30–4:00pm Thursday
- 3:30–4:00pm Friday
- Morning or afternoon Saturday
Note: this is not a summer‑only role; we are seeking dedicated tutors to support members throughout the next academic year and beyond.
Pay Rates
18–20 – £10.90; 21+ – £12.75. An additional £0.50 per hour will be added if working at a centre inside the M25. All training and inductions are paid. Earn more as you progress; pay increases annually based on hours tutored.
