We're working with a venture backed technology company that is building software to solve complex challenges within the natural resources sector. Following recent funding and growing customer demand, they are looking to hire a Product Engineer with a strong frontend focus to help shape and scale the user experience of their platform.
This is an opportunity to join a small, high performing team where you'll have significant ownership over product development, user experience, and technical decisions. You'll work closely with customers, designers, product leaders, and engineers to build intuitive software that solves complex real world problems.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and building customer facing products, turning complex technical and scientific workflows into intuitive and impactful user experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining modern web applications using React and TypeScript
- Working closely with Product, Design, and customers to translate requirements into high quality features
- Owning features end to end, from discovery and design through to deployment and iteration
- Designing and implementing intuitive user interfaces for complex data driven workflows
- Collaborating with backend engineers and data scientists to integrate APIs, analytics, and machine learning powered functionality
- Improving application performance, accessibility, and overall user experience
- Contributing across the full stack when required, including backend development and API integration
- Gathering user feedback and using product insights to inform future development
- Driving frontend best practices, component architecture, testing, and development workflows
- Taking ownership of projects from concept through to production
Requirements
- ~4+ years of experience building modern web applications
- ~ Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend development practices
- ~ Passion for creating exceptional user experiences and solving customer problems
- ~ Experience building and shipping customer facing products
- ~ Strong understanding of frontend architecture, state management, and application performance
- ~ Experience consuming and integrating APIs within production applications
- ~ Ability to work across the full product lifecycle, from discovery through to delivery
- ~ Strong communication and collaboration skills
- ~ Comfortable working in a fast moving startup environment
- ~ Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership
Desirable Experience
- Experience working as a Product Engineer or in highly product focused engineering teams
- Experience with modern design systems and component libraries
- Experience with data visualisation tools and frameworks
- Familiarity with backend technologies such as Python, Node.js, or cloud platforms
- Experience building AI enabled or data intensive applications
- Exposure to geospatial data, scientific computing, or complex technical domains
