The Opportunity

We\'re partnering with an innovative fintech operating at the intersection of capital markets and digital assets.

They are building technology that bridges traditional markets with next-generation digital asset infrastructure, working with institutional clients to solve complex technical and business challenges.

They\'re looking for a technically strong, customer-focused engineer who enjoys working directly with users to solve real-world problems.

This isn\'t a traditional software engineering role.

You\'ll act as the bridge between customers, Product and Engineering—understanding business requirements, shaping technical solutions and helping deliver products that have a tangible impact.

If you enjoy working with customers, turning ambiguity into clear technical solutions and leveraging AI to build better software, this could be an excellent fit.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with customers to understand their workflows, challenges and business objectives.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions alongside Product and Engineering teams.
  • Design, build and deliver customer-facing features, integrations and prototypes.
  • Act as the technical point of contact throughout the customer journey.
  • Leverage modern AI tools and technologies to improve development efficiency and accelerate delivery.
  • Champion customer feedback internally, helping shape future product development.
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Product and Commercial teams to ensure successful implementations.
  • What We\'re Looking For

We\'re intentionally technology agnostic and value strong engineering fundamentals over experience with a particular tech stack.

You\'ll likely have

  • Experience as a Product Engineer, Software Engineer, Solutions Engineer or in a similar customer-facing engineering role.
  • A track record of working closely with users to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with a product mindset.
  • Experience working with AI—whether that\'s building AI-enabled products, integrating AI capabilities or using AI-powered development tools.
  • A commercial mindset and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Experience with modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Rust, Go or Type Script is welcomed, but we\'re far more interested in your ability to solve problems than expertise in a specific language.

How to prepare for a job interview at Explore Group

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Explore Group uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
