We are currently recruiting for a Level 2 Radiographic NDT Engineer to support one of our customers contributing to their assembly and testing of world-class space components. You will ensure quality standards are met across a range of aerospace manufacturing, assembly and testing activities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality service to our client and will be expected to be proactive and self-motivated in delivering the targeted outputs to support the product. The NDT Engineer will report directly to the Programme Delivery Leader (PDL) and their role will involve them to be based at the Client's site. Working within the ME team in our Aero Business Unit, successful candidates will join our experienced team, with whom you will work on varied projects in high-tech and future-oriented industries taking on exciting and responsible tasks according to your skills and knowledge, thus expanding your existing know-how.

Responsibilities

  • You will be requested to perform quality (NDT) activities to support the manufacture, assembly and test of satellite components and structures, as per the below:
  • EN4179 Ultrasonic Inspection Accreditation (current - live)
  • Mechanical Impedance Analysis of Honeycomb Sandwich Structures (iaw MIA0328/9)
  • Ultrasonic Through Transmission of Honeycomb Sandwich Structures (iaw UST027)
  • Resonance of Metallic Components (iaw UST0363)
  • Manual Tap Test Inspection (iaw MIA0332)
  • Infrared Red/ Thermography Training Modules
  • Thermographic Inspection of MIC (Thermocoaxes) (iaw MAIT.TM.00004.ADSS)
  • 100V Powering Method (iaw MAIT.TM.00017.ADSS)
  • Thermographic Inspection of Radiator Panels using Flatfoil/RER Heaters (iaw MAIT.TM.00028.ADSS)
  • Thermographic Inspection of Radiator Panels using 100V Powering (iaw MAIT.TM.00029.ADSS)
  • Thermographic Inspection of Thermofoil Heaters (iaw MAIT.TM.00030.ADSS)
  • Additional Activities:
  • Occurrence/Non Conformance Raising on NCCAPA
  • Producing inspection reports on inspections performed
  • Supporting Engineering, ESM, Quality and others on NDT related topics
  • RDWR support
  • Calibration and equipment maintenance
  • Updating and maintaining all relevant NDT logs, trackers and Work to Lists

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree, or equivalent, with proven practical Engineering & manufacturing knowledge and experience
  • Candidates without accredited qualifications will be considered depending upon experience

Essential skills

  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) - Contact and immersion methods: A, B and C scan
  • Bond Testing (BT)
  • Infrared Thermography Testing
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Proactive ‘Team Player’ with a focus on delivery and quality who can work and act autonomously
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and be capable of making sound technical judgements and appropriate decisions
  • Assertiveness, independent, structured way of working and the ability to find oneself in a multicultural working environment
  • Level 2 in Radiographic inspection

Experience

  • Experience of Ultrasonic NDT Processes and standards
  • Several years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Aerospace experience preferable but other industry sectors will be considered
  • Proactive Team Player with a focus on delivery and quality
  • Good communicator who is professional during interactions with both internal and external stakeholders
