Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking an Embedded Electronics Systems Integration Engineer. We are looking for a proactive engineer with broad capability across electronics, embedded software, and system integration. Candidates with defence or aerospace backgrounds are of particular interest, with military, marine, or rail experience also considered valuable. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to advanced defence technology, supporting the security of the UK and its allies. Ideal candidates will be collaborative, self‑motivated, detail‑focused, and methodical in their approach to problem solving.
Responsibilities
- Support finalisation of the system architecture for communications and power.
- Identify required avionics equipment to fulfil the proposed architecture.
- Generate requirements specifications for any non‑COTS/MOTS equipment.
- Produce a system integration de‑risk plan.
- Conduct integration and compatibility testing of laboratory equipment to de‑risk the long‑term solution.
- Develop, document, and prove application drivers for imposed COTS/MOTS functionality.
- Develop, document, and prove communication translations (ETH T1/TX, MODBUS, CAN).
- Liaise with SMEs across Electronics, Software, Systems‑Proving, and related disciplines.
- Project‑manage an aggressive de‑risk programme against an agreed plan.
- Demonstrate the complete system operating in the lab on representative hardware.
- Produce a future‑work report identifying remaining de‑risking activities.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in a relevant subject, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar.
- A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu.

- Electronics Systems Design, including comms and power architecture.
- Electronics Packaging for representative hardware.
- Application Software development for embedded/avionics systems.
- Ability to develop drivers for COTS/MOTS equipment.
- Strong understanding of communication protocols: Ethernet T1/TX, MODBUS, CAN.
- Hands‑on system integration in a lab environment.
- Ability to generate requirements, test plans, and de‑risk strategies.
- Strong cross‑disciplinary communication with electronics, software, and systems SMEs.
- Ability to manage a compressed, high‑intensity R&D schedule.
Desired skills
- BPSS Cleared.
- Ability and willingness to travel to and work on the client site at Stevenage minimum 1 day per week.
