  • Support system-level design activities for vehicle control subsystems and associated implementation hardware.
  • Apply safety-aware systems engineering principles in line with regulated engineering environments.
  • Provide system-level hardware and interface understanding to ensure coherent designs.
  • Operate professionally on client site, representing Expleo credibly and independently.
  • Support the Programme Engineering Team Lead (ETL) in delivering consultancy-led engineering services.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline, such as: Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mathematics.

Essential skills

  • Demonstrable systems engineering experience on complex and/or safety-related systems.
  • Strong experience working at the systems/software boundary.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision within a client organisation.
  • Experience in marine, defence, aerospace, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Proven experience in:
    • Requirements management
    • System design (desirable)
    • Modelling and simulation (desirable)
  • Proficiency with tools such as:
    • DOORS
    • Siemens Polarion
    • Enterprise Architect or equivalent MBSE tools (desirable)
    • MATLAB and/or Simulink (desirable)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability, including customer and supplier interaction.

Desired skills

  • Strong client-facing communication and professional presence.
  • Able to build credibility quickly with client engineers.
  • Proactive, ownership-driven approach to problem solving.
  • Clear, confident communicator able to tailor technical depth to the audience.
  • High levels of professionalism, judgement, and safety awareness.

Experience

  • Rapidly establishes credibility and trust within the client engineering team.
  • Independently owns and resolves problems without requiring close direction.
  • Delivers pragmatic, system-aware corrective actions that improve programme outcomes.
  • Demonstrates sound engineering judgement and safety awareness.
  • Identifies opportunities to add consultancy value beyond immediate tasking.
  • Trusted by the Engineering Team Lead to represent Expleo independently on site.

What do I need before I apply

  • Professional behaviour, autonomy, and client credibility are critical to success.
  • Ideally will already hold SC Clearance; must be eligible to attain SC if required.
