As part of our continued support to a major customer in the space industry, we are looking for a Mechanical Quality Assurance Inspector to ensure the conformity of satellite components to customer requirements and support quality assurance efforts in our client’s facility. This role involves conducting quality inspections, monitoring cleanliness and contamination standards, and ensuring on-time, on-cost delivery with a “right first time” with emphasis on mechanical components.
Responsibilities
- Identify the need and create/prepare/eradicate necessary quality inspection plans in close collaboration with Supply Chain and Quality Managers (SCQM) and in alignment with stakeholders (Engineering, Product Assurance, Production,…)
- Perform all defined quality inspections operations up to the product delivery (including e.g. raw material, mechanisms, standard parts,…)
- Red flag all the deviations occurring on product, equipment and jigs & tools
- Carry out at operational level investigations on any issues, propose and perform containment actions in collaboration with supplier.
- Inform corresponding SCQM and support root cause analysis, corrective & preventive actions and improvements
- Participate to team boards and PPS (Practical Problem Solving) board at shop floor and operational level, guide and advise operators to take into account any quality aspects
- Assess conformity of the product with regard to the approved design (e.g. certifying staff)
- Confirm process coherence by steering the concession/waiver signature flow and signing the concession to ensure material availability
- Develop processes and procedures to optimise way of working

- Experience of Engineering within the space, aerospace or military engineering sectors.
Experience
- Experience of Engineering within the space, aerospace or military sectors.
- Familiar with production activities, including risk management, Non conformance management, Environmental cleanliness and ESD control.
- General awareness of Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, Manufacturing Execution System, SAP, Technical Publications, etc.) relevant to the business
- Experienced in working within a matrix structure. Demonstrable team-working skillset
- Proactive, with the proven ability to implement change to the benefit of the business.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with people of all levels of the business.
