Overview

As part of our continued support to our client in the space industry we are looking for a number of Mechanical / Electrical Technicians experience with Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT).

The Electrical technicians will be working alongside subject matter experts in a dynamic and growth focused Space business. The role will require candidates to support in the preparation of electrical components which meet high quality standards in line with production procedures and processes.

Working as part of the AIT team on spacecraft critical components to produce components which conform to the quality requirements, delivered to schedule IAW the production plan.

The roles will be based at our customer’s facility in Stevenage, we are able to offer these roles on a permanent or contract (Inside IR35) basis. The salary/rate is negotiable based on experience, seniority, etc.The role will require working on a shift basis (early and late) for which a premium will be paid.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and work to shop floor documentation such as routings, drawings, work instructions and bill of materials
  • Responsible for working to and complying with European Space Agency Standards, processes and Health & Safety Requirements
  • Work to the required process standard as dictated by the relevant area skills matrix
  • Responsible for the completion of all paperwork relating to the operations undertaken, including traceability, recording all required information.
  • Online thermal harness routing, crimping and connector population inline with space industry standards
  • Pre installation electrical checks
  • Inspection capabilities to check crimps and harness routing
  • Blankets fitted as per instruction
  • Mechanical and Electrical Integration of Equipment/Hardware
  • Working on Space Hardware
  • Bonding of bracketry and tybases as per instruction
  • Satellite panel/structure build, rivets fitted as per instructions
  • Bonding of heaters to panels as per instruction
  • Installation of brackets to panels via bolts as per instruction
  • Grounding various components to the panel as per instruction
  • Work within a flexible motivated teamworking to tight schedules and meeting critical deadlines.
  • Play an active part in continuous improvement plans.
  • Candidates may be asked to temporary follow equipment to other UK sites and may be given opportunities to work abroad.

Qualifications

  • Time served Craft Electrical Apprentice is desirable but not essential
  • ESA Qualified Electrical Technician
  • GSCE\’s or equivalent in Maths and English

Essential skills

  • Knowledge required of crimping, splicing, harness manufacture, harness forming, thermal installation, all to ESA Electrical standards.
  • Familiarity and ability to follow shop documentation such as bill of material, drawings, work instructions, processes and procedures.
  • Must have good electrical knowledge and technical understanding.

Desired skills

  • Working at height
  • Trained in applicable H&S standards
  • ISO 8 Cleanroom disciplines
  • Manual Handling

Experience

  • Electrical experience post any training periods.
  • Experience working within an aerospace industry would be an advantage

What do I need before I apply

  • Will ingness to work within the Stevenage area on a full time capability.
  • Ability/willingness to support shift working (two shifts 06:00-14:00 & 14:00-22:00) for which a shift premium is payable.
  • Willingness to travel with the product to support a testing campaign in Turin, Italy
