Why Moorhouse? We are a dynamic consulting firm, focused on delivering sustainable change. We make sure our clients succeed in their long‑term goals by helping them turn their strategy into action through exceptional delivery and a commitment to establishing a culture of change. Clients like what we do and how we work, and we are looking for people to join the Moorhouse team. We pride ourselves in being proactive, collaborative, and straightforward team players. We like to move fast as a team and both honesty and integrity are key to this. In return you will be part of a supportive and high‑performing team that shares the workload, looks after each other and celebrates success together. You can be assured of an exciting opportunity that will stretch you and equip you with skills, experience and knowledge that can help organisations respond to the turbulence, change and opportunity that will define the future of work. We don’t do politics, egos, or personal agendas – it consumes too much time and distracts us from being successful together. We will expect you to contribute to a culture of sustainability and embrace Moorhouse’s social responsibility by integrating responsible practices and upholding ethical standards and awareness in everyday work. Moorhouse is currently unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Unfortunately, this means we are not able to progress applications from candidates who would require sponsorship now or in the future.
Healthcare at Moorhouse
Our Health & Care sector plays a central role in designing and delivering transformation across the NHS. We work with organisations across the UK health system, including national bodies, ICSe and providers to solve their most critical challenges – including improving operational performance, redesigning care pathways, delivering digital and data‑enabled transformation, and defining operating models and supporting organisation‑wide change. We combine national‑level strategy experience with hands‑on delivery in provider settings, focusing on three core areas aligned to NHS 10‑year plan priorities:
- Health Service Optimisation: Operational, performance and financial improvement across acute, community and primary care settings.
- Digital, Data and AI transformation: to support improved decision‑making, productivity and performance improvement across care systems.
- Health System Strategy and Design: Commissioning and system strategy and design, helping ICSe and national bodies redesign care pathways, allocate resources effectively, and drive system‑wide transformation.
We have long‑standing partnerships with many of the largest NHS organisations on programmes ranging from system‑wide change to targeted improvement work, helping them maximise value, strengthen resilience and improve outcomes for patients and populations.
Responsibilities
Why join the Health & Care team at Moorhouse? Our Health & Care team brings together a mix of former operational leaders and clinicians with NHS change experts. We work as an integrated team, combining complementary strengths in strategy, delivery, data, change and frontline transformation, with working at Moorhouse enabling you to build and broaden your NHS skillset by collaborating with experts across multiple disciplines. Our delivery‑led consulting model means we work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with client teams, embedding ourselves in services to deliver measurable results rather than solely producing recommendations. We are looking for a Senior Consultant to join this tight‑knit, collaborative team – helping lead delivery of our projects and driving continued growth of our sector. You will play an important role in driving our clients' most critical transformation efforts through hands‑on, practical delivery.
Through this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Deliver high‑impact, meaningful change – take ownership of delivering innovative and strategically important programmes that create measurable impact across NHS organisations.
- Have true autonomy and support – shape your role on projects and to sector growth, with flexibility and support by senior leaders rather than rigid hierarchies.
- Work on varied and complex challenges – apply your expertise to complex challenges that go beyond traditional CIP/FIP projects.
- Develop deep exposure to the NHS and Health & Care system – work side‑by‑side with executives, operational leaders, and system leaders across providers, ICSe, and national bodies.
- Accelerate your career – learn from a highly experienced team with deep expertise in healthcare and the NHS.
- Grow your expertise and profile – deepen your understanding of Health & Care through formal training, thought leadership, and proposition development.
- Be visible in a growing practice – play an active role in our growth through business development, building your own network, and support bids for exciting new client work.
- Join a people‑first community – be part of a supportive, ambitious and connected team that values fun, collaboration and wellbeing, with regular socials, regular strategy half‑day events and quarterly Moorhouse “escapes”.
Essential Skills
What are we looking for? We are seeking candidates with strong NHS operational experience. An ideal candidate would have either:
- At least 4+ years' experience of working directly within an NHS provider in an operational role, or
- At least 4+ years' consulting experience, with strong examples of operational support delivery in a provider setting (e.g. Acute Trust).
The experience you will bring:
- Experience working in NHS operational environments, with understanding of key operations such as patient flow, theatre and bed utilisation, workforce productivity and end‑to‑end operational flows.
- Experience diagnosing operational problems using techniques such as process mapping and root-cause analysis to identify actionable improvement opportunities.
- Strong NHS operational literacy, including understanding of constitutional standards and key data sets used to manage provider performance (e.g., SUS, RTT, A&E, theatre utilisation, workforce) and the systems used operationally across Trusts.
- Practical experience delivering operational change programmes in acute, community or mental health settings, with the ability to articulate the measurable improvements realised in efficiency, throughput, waiting times, productivity or cost.
- Ability to engage meaningfully with frontline staff, with strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, working credibly with operational, clinical and managerial leaders within complex provider settings.
- Experience applying improvement methodologies and structured problem-solving, including facilitation of workshops.
In addition to;
- A strong desire to work with the NHS and a passion for Health & Care transformation, delivering change that improves outcomes and sustainability for patients and populations.
- A strategic thinker with a passion for solving complex organisational and system problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills including building and nurturing strong relationships with clients and colleagues, and experience effectively managing and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
- A proactive approach with ability to work independently and identify, scope and lead key initiatives (for client delivery and for internal sector growth at Moorhouse).
- Commercial awareness and experience in business development e.g. building long‑lasting relationships, supporting development of impactful proposals, or identifying potential new work opportunities.
Benefits
What we can offer you:
- A total cash package of up to ÂŁ80,000 comprising of a base salary of ÂŁ64,575 and a combination of personal and company bonuses paid every six months.
- 25 days annual leave increasing by one day for every full year of service to a maximum of 30 days with the option to buy or sell up to five days of annual leave per year.
- Life Assurance, Private Medical Insurance, Group Personal Pension Scheme and a range of discounted lifestyle and well‑being benefits through Perkbox.
- Enhanced family‑friendly package: generous parental pay, flexible working options, and paid time off for family commitments so you can balance work and home life with confidence.
- Inclusive Culture and Community: a wide range of employee resource groups that encourage collaboration, peer support and offer learning and education opportunities across the business and create a strong sense of belonging across the business.
- A culture where you will not need to compete with others because of promotion quotas or the typical distribution curves that govern performance management in other organisations. We recognise and reward performance consistently and transparently across the firm so that everyone knows where they stand.
Our offices are based near Liverpool Street in London, though we expect you to spend much of our time with clients at their offices. We support flexible and hybrid working. Moorhouse is proud to be an equal opportunities employer, and our values underpin a working environment that is inclusive for all those who work for us.
