Job Description
As a Senior HVAC Detail Design Engineer, you will carry out detailed Engineering design activities, working closely with cross-functional teams on a range of projects, making sure that work complies with industry standards and regulations.
You will deliver accurate technical drawings and specifications, and will help to identify and resolve any design issues that may arise. You'll also support the business in preparing technical reports and documents, and participate in design reviews.
Act effectively as Discipline SQEP (Suitably qualified and experienced personnel).

- You're an experienced HVAC Designer, and are comfortable using design software and tools such as FORAN. You've got a keen eye for detail and accuracy, and are able to use analytical and problem solving skills in challenging situations.
- You're able to work autonomously or within a larger team, and are able to flexibly adapt to changing project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Primary responsibilities will be preparing & producing HVAC marine drawing deliverables to required standards & within budget/schedule (create drawings, bill of materials, incorporating change, up-revision of drawings).
- Creation of CAD Models and Drawings: Producing detailed 3D CAD models ato meet required standards.
- Ability to utilise 3D models to generate 2D Production Output deliverables.
- Ability to utilise 3D models to generate additional deliverables (BoM/CADCAM data).
- Utilising appropriate technical standards and regulations to support development within the appropriate area of the Design Lifecycle (specifically PO's).
- Perform self-verification of own work.
- Ability to identify errors and omissions that conflict with required specifications within source model and deliverables.
- Familiarity with shipbuilding/ship repair terminology and practices.
- Liaise with colleagues and various stakeholders during appropriate design phases to ensure coordination and functionality of design.
- Provide solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in the resolution of Technical and Production Queries.
- Reporting of technical progress and issues to line management.
- Be aware of and ensure that safety, health and environmental requirements are implemented.
- Assist with the maintenance and improvement in quality standards of outputs.

Qualifications
- The candidate is required to hold an NC/HNC or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical / HVAC discipline subject.
- Apprenticeship in relevant discipline or relevant industry experience.
Essential skills
- Familiarity with shipbuilding/ship repair terminology and practices.
- Be proficient in the use of one or more parametric/spec driven CAD system both in a 3D & 2D environment. Including FORAN
Experience
- Experience in Design working on Naval or Commercial Marine projects (preferably naval shipbuilding projects/alternatively new build or major conversion packages) or similar, preferably T26.
- Development of system design, specifications, manuals, design substantiation
- HVAC calculations: heating / cooling load, fresh air calculations, equipment sizing
- Liaising with suppliers for the equipment
- Liaising with other disciplines: electrical, structural, outfit, etc
- Stage 2 Modelling experience.
- Stage 3 Outputs experience.
- Working knowledge of Foran to produce 2D and 3D deliverables.
- Knowledge of marine design rules.
