As part of our continued support to a major automotive client, we are seeking a Powertrain eDrive Engineer to support the development and integration of electric drive technologies within high-performance vehicle programmes. Reporting to the Senior Powertrain Engineer, the role focuses on electric propulsion systems including electric motors, inverters, and associated powertrain components. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to the design, development, and integration of electrified propulsion systems while supporting the adoption of new technologies across future vehicle platforms.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of electric drive components and subsystems, including motors, inverters, and associated control systems.
- Contribute to the integration of electric propulsion systems within vehicle powertrain architectures.
- Analyse issues relating to electric drive systems and implement corrective engineering solutions.
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques including RCA, 8D, and Fishbone analysis.
- Ensure seamless integration of electric propulsion components with the wider vehicle architecture.
- Support vehicle attribute development relating to performance, efficiency, and durability.
- Maintain technical documentation including DFMEA, DVP, and technical specifications.
- Manage BoM structures and support component release through SAP systems.
- Deliver engineering outputs aligned with the Engineering Timing Release Schedule (ETRS).
- Work closely with suppliers and development partners on electric drive technology solutions.
- Support internal and external programme reviews with technical data and progress updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- A 2:1 degree classification or higher is desirable.
Essential skills
- Strong understanding of electric propulsion systems and electrified powertrain technologies.
- Knowledge of automotive power electronics, electric motors, and battery system interactions.
- Experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and Root Cause Analysis.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP, and technical specification documentation.
- Understanding of quality concern management processes and engineering investigation procedures.
- Experience using CATIA V5 (2D and 3D) for engineering investigation and design activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
