Joining the AIT team of a key client in the UK, the AIT Integration Engineer is responsible for delivering spacecraft, subsystem, and unit-level mechanical integration activities across Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) and Environmental Verification Test (EVT) phases. Working within spacecraft mission teams, the role ensures efficient progression through build, integration, verification, and external environmental test campaigns, supporting successful mission delivery.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute spacecraft mechanical integration and verification activities
- Support electrical integration and test preparation activities
- Contribute to harness definition and test cable manufacture
- Coordinate cleanroom logistics while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and organisation
- Support AIT and EVT campaigns, including potential overseas assignments
- Liaise with internal mission teams and external stakeholders
- Deliver training and guidance to internal teams and customer engineers
- Present progress and outcomes at design, test, and project reviews
Qualifications
- HNC/HND in Engineering or a Science discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience (minimum four years)
- Must hold, or have held within the last five years, EU-based personal security clearance
- Must be a citizen of an EU member state or Schengen-associated country
Essential skills
- Hands-on capability in mechanical integration and testing within a controlled environment
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, with some exposure to electrical or electronic integration
- Experience following defined procedures and inspection standards
- Understanding of verification and validation principles
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
- Effective communication and ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams
- Flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving
- Willingness to work irregular hours and travel internationally as required
Desired skills
- Broader knowledge of electrical or electronic systems integration
- Experience with RF or communications systems
- Familiarity with test and measurement equipment
- Full, clean driving licence
Experience
- Proven experience working with spaceflight hardware or similarly complex systems
- Track record of supporting integration, verification, or test campaigns
- Experience contributing to activity planning, scheduling, and delivery within project environments
- Broad engineering background spanning mechanical systems, with some cross-disciplinary exposure
