We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electronic Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Bristol. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of electronic systems and subsystems for our advanced missile products. This role requires a deep understanding of electronic engineering principles and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Create and develop electronic circuits and systems for missile applications. Produce detailed design documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, and bills of materials. Utilize simulation tools to model and validate designs before prototyping. Explore benefits through SPICE software by investigating application of Transient Conducted Susceptibility test levels to circuits using LTSPICE and CS transient wave to custom electronic units. Deliver Model Development Plan for LTspice analysis of SPICE Modelling for EMC Effects.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct rigorous testing and validation of electronic systems to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards. Perform troubleshooting and debugging of electronic circuits and systems. Collaborate with the testing team to define and execute test plans.
  • Project Management: Work within project timelines and budget constraints. Participate in design reviews and provide input to improve design quality and performance. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, software, systems) to ensure seamless integration of electronic components.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards and technologies. Document and maintain design records according to a quality management system.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Essential skills

  • Proficiency in electronic circuit design, including analogue, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.
  • Familiarity with EMC standards (e.g., MIL-STD, NATO AECTP-500).
  • Analogue understanding of EMC applications.

Desired skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Experience

  • Experience in electronic design and development.
  • Experience with high-reliability and safety-critical systems, preferably in the defence or aerospace sector.
  • Experience with Electronic Simulation Software (LTSpice, Symetrix).
  • Experience with PCB design software (e.g., Altium, Cadence).

What do I need before I apply

  • Willing to travel onsite to Bristol 3–4 days per week.
