As part of our continued growth in advanced air mobility and next-generation rotorcraft, we are seeking a Verification & Validation Engineer to support the development and certification of a new electric rotorcraft platform.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of aerospace innovation, contributing to the certification of cutting-edge electric propulsion systems and rotorcraft technologies against EASA CS-27/CS-29 and associated certification frameworks. You will play a central role in defining and executing robust V&V strategies, ensuring compliance, safety, and performance through a structured, evidence-based approach.

This role is Hybrid working in Bristol.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Verification & Validation (V&V) plans aligned to certification requirements (CS-27/CS-29) and programme objectives
- Define means of compliance, including analysis, inspection, test, and demonstration, to support certification activities
- Establish requirements traceability and ensure all system and hardware requirements are verified and validated with appropriate evidence
- Lead or support test planning, execution, and reporting, including laboratory, rig, ground, and flight testing
- Collaborate with design, systems, safety, and certification teams to ensure V&V activities are fully integrated into the development lifecycle
- Support compliance demonstration activities, ensuring robust “proof of compliance” for each applicable requirement
- Conduct data analysis and correlation from test campaigns to validate system performance and behaviour
- Identify and manage technical risks related to verification and validation, supporting mitigation strategies
- Contribute to certification documentation, including compliance reports, verification matrices, and test reports
- Support configuration and conformity control for test articles and certification evidence
- Ensure adherence to applicable standards, including ARP4754A, DO-160, and other relevant aerospace practices
- Participate in design reviews, providing V&V input to ensure requirements are testable and verifiable
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Chartered engineer or working towards chartered status within a recognised and relevant professional body.
- Applications are invited from candidates who may hold HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline in concert with significant and demonstrable subject matter expertise in the system domain
Essential skills
Strong knowledge of verification methods (analysis, inspection, test, demonstration) and their application
Experience developing verification strategies and compliance matrices
Ability to interpret and apply certification requirements and standards
Experience with hardware/system testing, including data acquisition and analysis
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent technical documentation and report writing capability
Effective communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
Desired skills
- Experience with electric propulsion systems, batteries, or high-voltage aerospace systems
- Rotorcraft experience, including flight dynamics, loads, or structural systems
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and approaches
- Knowledge of safety assessment processes (FHA, FMEA, FTA)
- Experience supporting flight test programmes or certification campaigns
- Familiarity with standards such as DO-178, DO-254, DO-160
- Experience in advanced air mobility (AAM), eVTOL, or emerging aviation platforms
