Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking a Principal FPGA Design Engineer to support our defence industry client. This is a senior role with the successful candidates ideally having a proven track record for delivering firmware for defence related products. The role is expected to be Hybrid (3 days at the clients Belfast site). We are looking for an energetic and driven engineer with broad expertise, particularly candidates with experience in highly regulated industries such as military, aerospace, marine, nuclear or rail. This role represents a great opportunity to work in a role which contributes directly to the security of the UK and our allies. Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of firmware teams to deliver firmware projects to agreed time, cost and quality
  • Verify firmware using Hardware Verification Languages or Hardware Description languages
  • Design firmware using Hardware Description Languages
  • Enhancement of firmware related processes (documenting, scripting, reporting, process automation)
  • Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams

Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant subject such as Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Membership or fellowship of a professional engineering body preferably with or working towards chartered status

Experience:

  • Leading firmware architecture & design activities
  • Architecting verification test benches and verification environments
  • Delivering complex FPGA/firmware implementations from requirements through verification
  • Applying object-oriented design principles to verification and firmware development
  • Developing image-processing solutions and associated algorithms
  • Creating and validating algorithms using MATLAB
