Expleo is a trusted partner for end-to-end, integrated engineering, quality services and management consulting for digital transformation. We help businesses harness unrelenting technological change to successfully deliver innovations that will help them gain a competitive advantage and improve the everyday lives of people around the globe. As part of our continued support to a major customer in the Automotive industry, we are seeking an experienced ADAS Mechanical Integration Engineer. The successful candidate will need to understand the mechanical sensor sub system, the mechanical position and interface requirements of different ADAS sensors including Lidar, Radar, Camera and Ultrasonic components. You will need to understand how to robustly implement and design ADAS sensor installations within a vehicle environment. You will evaluate the impacts and suitability of this environment considering factors such as vibration, temperature, positional tolerances and sensor obscuration.

Responsibilities

  • Sensor Packaging & Integration: Lead the mechanical packaging of ADAS components across diverse vehicle zones, including interior packaging (windshield-mounted cameras), exterior styling integration (bumpers, mirrors, grilles), and internal modules (Domain Controllers).
  • Cross-Functional Styling Alignment: Partner with studio styling and exterior design teams to integrate sensors seamlessly into bumpers, mirrors, and trim without compromising vehicle aesthetics.
  • Field of View (FoV) Protection: Conduct rigorous obstruction and line-of-sight studies to ensure vehicle body panels, fascia, glass frit patterns, or wipers do not block sensor optical paths.
  • Precision Alignment: Establish strict positional accuracy schemes and manage critical sensor-to-vehicle tolerance stack-ups to guarantee software perception accuracy.
  • Environmental & Thermal Shielding: Design robust brackets, structural housings, and environmental enclosures capable of withstanding high vibrations, thermal extremes, and impact loads.
  • Supplier Management: Collaborate closely with Tier 1 sensor suppliers to align on mechanical interfaces, data sheets, and physical delivery timelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Proven background in automotive product development, specifically focusing on electromechanical integration or electronic component packaging.

Essential skills

  • Primary CAD Expert: Advanced proficiency in CATIA (V5 or V6) for complex 3D solid modeling, surface design, and large assembly management.
  • GD&T Expertise: Mastery of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) according to ISO / ISO GPS.
  • Tolerance Stack-up Analysis: Ability to perform 1D/2D tolerance analyses to evaluate the cumulative impact of manufacturing variations on sensor alignment.
  • Structural Engineering: Strong fundamental understanding of mechanics, vibration mitigation, and thermal management for electronic modules.

Desired skills

  • Systems Engineering: Familiarity with systems engineering frameworks, including the V-model, DFMEA, and ISO 26262 functional safety requirements.
  • Optics & Active Cleaning: Basic understanding of optical lensing parameters and experience integrating sensor cleaning hardware (fluid spray nozzles or air jets).
  • Simulation Exposure: Ability to interpret Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) results to optimize structural designs.

Experience

  • Industry Tenure: Direct experience as a mechanical packaging or integration engineer within an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier environment.
  • ADAS Lifecycle: Demonstrated experience taking ADAS components (cameras, radars, or ECUs) from initial concept phase through to manufacturing launch.
  • Problem Solving: Practical experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5-Why) to resolve complex physical integration issues.
