Expleo is proud to be supporting a leading automotive manufacturer in delivering excellence across their production vehicle lines. We’re currently looking for a Test Rig Facilities Engineer to support the lead the design and delivery of bespoke test rigs and fixtures in support of the core cycle plan across all the Engineering Labs test areas. This contract role will be supporting our client in Gaydon.
Responsibilities
- Design and development of test rigs and components from initial concept through to final delivery.
- Production of detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Collaboration with customers to define testing requirements and ensure rig designs meet functional and performance criteria.
- Coordination with workshop fitters and supervisors to support rig installation, assembly, and troubleshooting.
- Review and validation of junior engineer’s designs and technical drawings, providing guidance and feedback.
- Design validation using appropriate engineering methods, including hand calculations, kinematic analysis, multibody simulations and FEA/CAE tools.
Essential skills
- Strong understanding of vehicle testing methodologies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle architecture, including key components and mechanical systems.
- Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD modelling.
- Skilled in producing and interpreting complex 2D technical drawings for accurate part manufacturing and assembly.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical and procedural issues in a timely and independent manner.
