As part of our continued support to a major automotive client, we are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Design Engineer - Powertrain to join our dynamic team and deliver critical systems into high-performance vehicle programmes. This inside IR35 contract will be offered for an initial six months and located at our client’s site in Surrey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the technical delivery of powertrain systems from concept through to production.
- Author/manage technical specifications, FMEAs, DVPs, and test plans.
- Support prototype and series vehicle builds and testing activities.
- Contribute to key project reviews and technical status meetings.
- Collaborate with suppliers to meet design, cost, and delivery targets.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including logistics, purchasing, and programme teams.
- Identify and mitigate risks, track engineering concerns, and drive robust resolutions.
- Prepare and deliver documentation for internal and customer milestone reviews.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Extensive background in automotive powertrain engineering.
- Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
- Hands-on experience collaborating with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Strong expertise in powertrain system design, development, and validation.
- Proven track record delivering driveline, transmission, and engine components.
- Comprehensive knowledge of APQP and related processes.
- Proficient in DFM, DFMEA, risk analysis, and root cause resolution methodologies.
- Proficient in CATIA V5.
