We are looking for an energetic and driven Principal EMC Specialist to join our rapidly growing systems team within our Electronics and Embedded Systems Capability. This role represents a fantastic and rare opportunity to play a leading role in the design and development of a range of client defence marine products. The project is in the early phases of the life cycle and you will be supporting the project from the concept design phase through to delivery and installation testing.
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer/EMC Specialist, with particular specialism in complex electromagnetic environments of RADAR systems and integration of RADAR onto a maritime platform.

The Principal Electrical Engineer/EMC Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all systems (including power, digital processing, communications, mechanical and electrical (M&E) assets) are designed, installed and tested to meet the stringent EMC requirements of an operational maritime defence platform. Your expertise will be vital in preventing electromagnetic interference (EMI) between safetyâcritical systems, ensuring once integrated the system operates safely and reliably. Ensuring projects are completed to meet all clientâs requirements and applicable standards and to an agreed budget and programme.
Act as the technical lead for all EMC matters. Develop, maintain and manage EMC Management Plans. Proactively identify and manage complex EMC interfaces between systems. Lead and contribute to EMCârelated hazard identification (HAZID) and risk assessments. Ensure all EMC risks are captured in the project Hazard Log and managed to an ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) level. Investigate and lead the resolution of any EMC issues, failures or nonâconformances identified during construction, testing, or commissioning. Liaise directly with design and build team, system suppliers, internal and external bodies to ensure a unified and compliant approach to EMC.

- A HNC / HND / FD or Bachelor's degree in an engineering subject
Essential Skills

- Project Management understanding (Critical path control, Risk understanding)
- Worked as an engineer on either Hardware, Software or Systems engineering.
- Full knowledge of 'V' lifecycle
- Leadership & Management
- Excellent communication skills at all levels

- Broad understanding of the Maritime Electronic Warfare and Combat Systems domain
- Experience with the design and development of Electronics & Motors, Power Electronics, Digital Electronics
- Delivery of electronic systems across the SE life cycle, including an understanding of the CADMID life cycle and its alignment with systems/product life cycles;
- Requirements Engineering using DOORS
- Understanding of the process of testing and integrating electronic and digital systems
Desired Skills
- Engineering/technical management, preferably in a position responsible for the delivery of equipment/system programmes for a MoD customer;
- Able to understand the effect of system design and change on the cost of the development;
- Minimum 10 years of experience in EMC matters with a strong focus on RADAR.
- Extensive, proven experience as an EMC engineer or specialist within a complex, large projects.
- Experience of the production and review of the following documents:
- EMC Strategy
- EMC Control Plan
- EMC Management Plan
