As a Systems Safety Engineer, you will be a crucial member of our team, contributing to the safety and reliability of our state‑of‑the‑art weapon systems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure the safety and reliability of weapon systems throughout the entire development lifecycle.
- Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessments, and safety assessments to identify potential hazards and risks associated with the missile systems and their components.
- Define and implement safety requirements, standards, and guidelines in compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications.
- Work closely with design and development teams to integrate safety considerations into system architecture, design, and operational concepts.
- Perform safety analysis for complex systems, including functional hazard assessments (FHAs), fault tree analysis (FTA), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), and common cause analysis.
- Support the development of safety cases and safety documentation, providing clear and concise safety arguments and evidence to demonstrate compliance with safety standards.
- Participate in safety review boards and present safety assessments to stakeholders, customers, and regulatory authorities.
- Monitor safety‑related issues and incidents, lead investigations when required, and propose corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Stay up‑to‑date with industry best practices, safety standards, and regulations related to defence and missile systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in systems safety engineering processes and methodologies.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering) or a related technical field.
- Proven experience as a Systems Safety Engineer in the defense, aerospace, or a safety‑critical industry.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations, such as MIL‑STD‑882, DEF STAN 00‑056, and/or DO‑178C.
- Strong understanding of safety analysis techniques and methodologies, including FTA, FMEA, FHA, and system‑level safety assessments.
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements management, and systems integration.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Eligibility for security clearance as required.
Desired Skills

- Knowledge of functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508.
