As a Senior Naval Architect every day at Expleo will be out of the ordinary and will require you to be dynamic and responsive to changes in technology, innovation, and client requirements. You will have the opportunity to get involved in concept surface & sub-surface vessel design, complex engineering design & analysis tasks, the creation of new & innovative tools & processes, the delivery of engineering consultancy services, and the development of decarbonisation solutions & other emerging technologies across a wide range of global maritime programmes.

Responsibilities- Apply & continue to develop a breadth of engineering skills, in the discipline of Naval Architecture and where applicable, other related disciplines.
- Define & conduct engineering analyses, technical studies and research & development projects, making use of your knowledge and experience, to deliver high quality solutions to our customers and clients.
- Provide mentoring support, guidance & leadership and enable opportunities for our Naval Architects to grow & develop their technical & behavioural skills, knowledge & experience.
- Investigate & solve complex technical problems in concept, basic and detailed design phases.
- Develop & maintain written technical and administrative procedures, standards, processes, practices, guidelines, and standards.
- Assist with the maintenance & improvement in quality standards of engineering, design, and production information.
- Interface directly with our customers and clients, representing our teams to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems.
- Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering), or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain.
- Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).
- Recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or an ability to achieve within 12 months).
- A readiness to grow & develop your technical & behavioural competence to operate at the cutting edge of your discipline.
- The drive to work in a collaborative environment with a natural curiosity and continuous improvement approach, challenging yourself and others to find new solutions.
- An understanding of the role of a Naval Architect throughout all stages of the design lifecycle.
- An understanding of classification society rules, regulations, and standards in the design, construction, and in-service lifecycle phases.
- The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 4 years post-graduate experience (8 years for non-degree qualified) working in either the commercial or naval maritime domain.
- Experienced in at least one of the following key technical knowledge areas:
- Hydrostatic, seakeeping & stability analysis.
- Propulsion, resistance, and powering requirements.
- Hydrodynamic & manoeuvring analysis.
- Marine structure design & analysis.
- Ship design; including hull form, superstructure, arrangement & outfitting.
The post will be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. We are interested in engaging with all candidates with the necessary experience, however it should be noted that naval projects may be subject to initial security considerations (e.g., sole UK nationality and eligible for 'Security Check' (SC) or 'Developed Vetting' (DV) security clearance).
