Join to apply for the Electrical & Electronics Engineer role at Expleo Group. Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking an Electrical/Electronic Engineer to work with our client, hybrid (3 days minimum onsite) at either Telford or Gateshead, working on the next generation armoured fighting vehicles. In this role, you will be involved in the design, development & integration of equipment at the system and sub-system levels. There will be a mixture of new development, maintaining legacy systems and specifying requirements for externally developed equipment. The role will involve contributing to the design and assurance of the platform electronic architecture and interfacing elements.

Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be expected to perform, the following type of activities:
- Implement designs and concepts for electronic products and systems which cost effectively fulfil contractual requirements.
- Support the overall system design process to ensure optimal allocation of functionality between different parts of the system.
- Preparation of detailed requirements, ensuring traceability and working to the systems engineering process.
- Validation and verification of systems, which may include producing test tools, the generation of test schedules, test and integration plans and technical reports.
- Developing products through to realisation and ensuring compliance against stringent defence standards such as Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).
- Provide support to task planning and estimating.
- Liaising with subsystem suppliers.
- Maintain an up to date understanding of technical / engineering developments and apply this knowledge appropriately to the projects in hand.
- Schedule own work to meet target timescales and deliverable milestones.
- Perform self-verification of own tasks to ensure completeness and quality of information.
- Undertake peer reviews to ensure completeness and quality of output.
- Ensure engineering designs address safety, security, reusability, reliability and maintainability.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- A related subject degree or lower qualification would be acceptable for example degree in Mechatronics or HNC/HND in Electronics if the candidate is able to demonstrate significant relevant experience.
Essential Skills
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office skills (minimum Word, Excel & Outlook & Internet).
- Demonstrated working knowledge of hand tools, both for mechanical and electrical operations.
- Soldering, crimping, looms, electromechanical assembly.
- Understands the principles and need for production control documentation and traceability.
- Drive and ability for continuous improvement through process development.
- Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.
- Methodical with excellent attention to detail.
- Good organisation skills.
- Ability to work proactively within a team, solve problems and liaise with other Engineering functions to resolve problems.
- Knowledge of the full product development lifecycle and the systems engineering process.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
Experience
- Essential experience:
- Extensive industry experience in electronics design and development.
- Experience with electronics design and simulation software.
- Experience of diagnosing, testing and fault finding electrical and electronic systems.
- Desirable experience:
- Experience working in a regulated environment such as Defence.
- Competence in the use of 3D software (ideally Siemens NX) for the production of 3D models and 2D drawings to BS8888.
- Working knowledge of the basic requirements specified in Def Stan 61-005 Part 6 (Nominal 12V and 24V DC Electrical Systems in Military Platforms) Def Stan 59-411 (EMC), Def Stan 61-005 Part 6 Nominal 12 V and 24 V DC Electrical Systems in Military Platforms and Def Stan 23-009 Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA).
