We are seeking a highly organised and motivated
Senior Manufacturing Engineer with extensive knowledge of composites.
This position requires all candidates to be eligible to live and work in the UK and must be capable of achieving a valid UK Government security vetting clearance.
Candidates must also hold a sole UK British passport (no dual nationalities).
Hybrid working is not able to be offered for this role.
The role is based fully onsite.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement manufacturing work instructions and visual aids (e. g., lay-up/assembly manuals).
- Analyse customer drawings and CAD data to develop templates, foam kits, and more.
- Devise and implement innovative manufacturing solutions for complex projects.
- Set up and manage Part Numbers, BOMs, and Routings in our MRP system to align with customer requirements.
- Design mould tools, assembly fixtures, and manufacturing aids when needed.
- Provide input into cost estimation for new projects.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure project success.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Support and mentor shop floor operatives to build a strong and capable team.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure new and existing products meet manufacturability standards.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or engineering role, ideally within composites.
- Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- A methodical approach to problem-solving.
- An ability to apply problem solving techniques to routine situations or situations of moderate complexity under supervision.
- Work is within standardised procedures and practices, accuracy of tasks is impactful.
- An ability to gather information & data to support build.
- Skills in coordinating people and activities to meet business demand.
- Be able to plan, prioritise and delegate tasks.
- A good understanding of how the team integrates with other teams in order to achieve objectives.
- Good communication in English (oral & written) & interpersonal skills.
Experience
- Understanding of the manufacturing used within the business.
- Engineering drawing reading and interpretation including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to access, have a clear understanding of, and apply the Quality and HS&E Management System documentation, e. g.
Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Risk Assessments etc., applicable to your particular work scope and to obey all HS&E rules and control measures.
- Knowledge of business processes and procedures.
- Experience with ISO standards and quality assurance processes.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or engineering role, ideally within composites.
- Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- A methodical approach to problem-solving.
- What Do I Need Before I Apply
- Recognising the restricted nature of the work, suitable candidates will need to be a UK National with minimum BPSS, and SC clearance will be required.
