We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Design Engineering Team Lead (ETL) to manage a high‑performing design team and ensure the successful delivery of aircraft structural design projects. This role demands deep expertise in aircraft composite structural design, CAD modelling, and design governance, combined with strong leadership and project delivery skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a design engineering team delivering complex aerospace structures from concept to certification.
  • Oversee the creation of 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings in compliance with aerospace standards.
  • Ensure adherence to design governance, configuration control, and change management processes.
  • Drive design reviews and ensure compliance with stress, systems, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaborate with stress engineers, systems engineers, and manufacturing teams to deliver optimised designs.
  • Manage workload allocation, project schedules, and resource planning across the team.
  • Act as the primary client interface for design‑related technical discussions.
  • Drive the team to deliver to schedule and quality.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).

Essential Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management capability.
  • Knowledge of door design is an advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5 and aerospace design methodologies.
  • Knowledge of aerospace structural design principles, including metallic and composite structures.
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T, drawing standards (ASME/ISO), and PLM systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply certification standards.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of aerospace or previous experience.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFM principles.
  • Familiarity with change management.

Experience

  • Experience working with stakeholders, lead engineers, chief engineers, and project managers.
  • Experience in aerospace structural design engineering, with leading teams or projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in concept design, detail design, and production release.
  • Experience working with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers on major aircraft programmes.
  • Experience with composite structure design and assembly integration.
