Quality Engineering Specialist
This role is focused on backend testing and quality engineering across payment terminal platforms and device management services. The successful candidate will take ownership of test strategy, automation, and quality assurance initiatives, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical payment solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute quality engineering and testing strategies across complex backend systems.
- Build, maintain, and enhance automated testing frameworks and test suites.
- Perform API, integration, functional, non-functional, regression, and end‑to‑end testing.
- Create and execute automated test scripts while managing test environments and test data.
- Validate payment terminal functionality, device management services, configuration management, and related backend workflows.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Identify, assess, and communicate project risks, issues, dependencies, and defects to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and test results.
- Monitor quality metrics and provide clear reporting on system health and test outcomes.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to support successful project delivery.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, process improvements, and quality engineering best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- ISTQB Foundation Certification (preferred).

Experience
- Experience testing backend systems, ideally within payment processing, terminal management, or device management platforms.
- Strong expertise in API automation testing with a focus on backend services.
- Hands‑on experience with Playwright, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, REST Assured, Cucumber, and Serenity.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks.
- Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitLab.
- Experience testing payment applications on Android POS devices, including PAX terminals, is advantageous.
- Working knowledge of microservices, containerisation, and cloud‑native architectures.
- Practical experience with AWS services and cloud‑based deployments.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery practices and collaboration tools including Git, Jira, Confluence, and Gerrit.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within distributed teams.
