Are you an Embedded Systems Engineer looking for your next contract? Expleo are recruiting on behalf of our prestige automotive focused client based in Staffordshire for an Embedded Systems Engineer. This role is a contract position that can be considered outside IR35 for a minimum of 6 months. The right candidate will have experience using tools such as QT, Ethernet, CAN, Jira and BIT bucket. General Duties: Translate the ‘voice of the customer’ (internal and external) into clear, concise requirements and deliverables. Conceptualize, prototype, and develop Simulink model-based applications across various machine functions. Select appropriate hardware platforms to deliver technical solutions, considering environmental and cost targets. Ensure robust and reliable ECU communication protocols are followed, in line with industry best practices (SAE J1939, Ethernet). Engage in model-based software rapid prototyping and productionization. Work in line with industry standard development techniques, such as the V Model and software development processes. Support cause and effect analysis, including risk assessments, FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa/fishbone methods. Qualifications and Experience: Strong desire to learn from working on differing system architectures and coding techniques. Familiarity with different requirements capturing tools, such as IBM DOORS. Knowledge of various CAN bus protocols, including CANOpen, J1939, ISO14229, and ISO14230. Working knowledge of software development techniques (V Model and functional safety). Experience in completing various V&V techniques, such as White, Grey, and Black box testing. Essential: Experience in the C programming language. Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink development for embedded systems. Ability to convert a list of desirable features into clear, concise, testable functional requirements. Confidence in using software modelling tools and software. Solid foundational knowledge of electronic and software development. Familiarity with CAN bus protocols or vehicle communication networks. Awareness of functional safety and security impacts on software development. Experience in validation and verification activities. Proven track record of taking electronic systems from concept to delivery. Excellent communication and IT skills.
