Explain is a growing market research agency based in the heart of Newcastle, delivering projects for clients nationally. Aligned to our continued growth we are looking to recruit a full time Insight Officer.

Operating within our Project & Business Hub Team, this role of our team of Insight Officers is to support our team of project managers in the delivery of a wide range of research projects on behalf of our clients. The Insight Officer role is often the first step on a career path in market research and may be of particular interest to graduates or those with research experience in a similar role.

With a particular focus in the utilities and health sector, our work makes a difference, supporting our clients to engage with customers and stakeholders on topics such as net zero, women’s health and cancer services.

The successful candidate will be exemplary in the following:

QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH DUTIES:

  • Assessing client objectives to develop a research proposal including recommendation of research methodology and costing of project

  • To carry out research telephone fieldwork as and when required

  • Questionnaire design

  • Database preparation (includes cleaning, checking, and importing data)

  • Data entry and coding of comments

  • Thematic analysis of literal comments

  • Data analysis of completed fieldwork and report / presentation writing of research findings

  • Call quality listening and feedback

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH DUTIES:

  • Assessing client objectives to develop a research proposal including recommendation of research methodology and costing of project

  • Recruitment for focus groups and in-depth interviews

  • Conducting semi-structured and in- depth telephone interviews

  • Attending focus groups

  • Transcribing focus groups and in- depth interviews

  • Thematic analysis of transcripts

  • Report / presentation writing highlighting key themes

  • Technical support for qualitative fieldwork as required (e.g. attending online focus groups and supporting with Zoom)

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Some liaison with clients e.g. email communication, attending meetings or presentations as note taker

  • Online community management support

  • Supporting the team with desk research and internal projects as required
