About EGI

EGI is a specialist executive and technical search firm. We started in 2015 and now have 40+ people across London, Austin and Dubai. We recruit in three practice areas: Infrastructure (data centre, energy, civil), Value Chain (industrial manufacturing and PE-backed transformation) and Technology (automotive software, hardware and AI infrastructure).

We deliver permanent search and contract recruitment. Both are growing, and so is the business. We need a finance function that keeps up.

The role

This is a build role. You'll report directly to our CEO, Ross Fraser, and own EGI's finance function end to end. That means getting the numbers right today and putting in the systems, controls and reporting we need as we scale across three countries and two business models.

You'll be the person the CEO, the leadership team and our funders rely on for an accurate picture of the business. It's hands-on. You'll do the work and design how it gets done.

What you'll do

Financial control and reporting

• Own month-end close, management accounts and year-end across the group's UK, US and UAE operations
• Produce monthly reporting for the CEO and board: P&L, cash flow, balance sheet and KPIs by office and practice
• Manage intercompany balances, multi-currency accounting and group consolidation
• Run budgeting and forecasting, and build models that support hiring and investment decisions
• Work with external accountants and tax advisers on statutory accounts, VAT, corporation tax and overseas compliance

Cash, funding and working capital

• Own cash flow forecasting and day-to-day cash management
• Manage our invoice finance facility, including reporting, drawdowns and funder relationships
• Lead credit control and collections so debtor days stay tight
• Support any investor, lender or due diligence processes with clean, fast information

Perm and contract finance

• Run fee invoicing for permanent placements and retained searches, including staged retainer billing
• Oversee weekly contractor payroll and timesheet-to-invoice processes
• Track contract margins, perm fees and net fee income (NFI) by consultant, team and office
• Calculate and report consultant commission accurately and on time

Building the function

• Review and improve our finance systems, processes and controls
• Set up the reporting and structure the business needs as contract revenue and headcount grow
• Build out the finance team over time as the business scales

What we're looking for

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or part-qualified with strong equivalent experience
• 5+ years in finance, including time running month-end and management reporting yourself
• Recruitment agency or professional services experience. Contract or temp recruitment finance is a mandatory
• Experience with invoice finance, multi-entity and multi-currency accounts
• Strong Excel and modelling skills. Xero experience is useful
• Comfortable working directly with a CEO and giving straight answers, including the ones people don't want to hear
• Someone who wants to build something, not just maintain it
