A leading infrastructure delivery firm is seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead the development and execution of a high-profile, mission-critical infrastructure project in the UK. This pivotal role ensures all mechanical and electrical systems—including HVAC, UPS, generators, LV/MV switchgear, BMS, and fire protection—are commissioned to the highest standards of performance, safety, and compliance. You’ll be the key driver behind a fully integrated commissioning strategy, collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure successful handover and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive commissioning strategy in alignment with project milestones.
• Manage commissioning for all major critical systems: HVAC, UPS, generators, LV/MV switchgear, BMS, and fire protection/suppression systems.
• Oversee and coordinate external commissioning agents and specialists.
• Control the commissioning programme and budget, proactively mitigating risks.
• Ensure full compliance with all regulatory, contractual, and internal standards.
• Liaise with design, construction, and operational teams to facilitate seamless project handover.
• Maintain accurate, real-time reporting and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience managing commissioning on large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Deep technical knowledge of M&E systems and their interdependencies.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams including external contractors and consultants.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with a solution-focused mindset.
• Engineering qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering preferred.
• Prior experience in high-availability environments such as data centres is highly desirable.
